Ed and I married right after high school and will be celebrating 50 years this October. I worked as a secretary until our 3 children were born then had the privilege of being a stay at home mom. They all live in So. Calif. so we get to enjoy our 4 grandkids. I was involved with school activities, scouting and volunteered at our local hospital. Ed retired in 1994 and we took to the road in our motor home. We traveled almost full time for 11 years doing various fun jobs. We were tour operators in Mexico and Alaska, also ride operators in an amusement park in Iowa (great fun sending people up the space shot and giving them the thrill of the roller coasters). We now reside at the marina in Ventura and enjoy outdoor activities and traveling. |

Marcia (Myers) and I married in '63, . . and have been together ever since. We have Sherie and Mike, our two kids and have raised rabbits, chickens, birds of all kinds, horses and dogs. Marcia raised and showed Shelties for many years and had a few champions to her credit. She operated pet stores in Glendale, Santa Monica, and Sunland for many years. As for me, I sat on my behind for a couple of national manufactures and contractors as a purchasing manager. When we retired in '06, we sold our home of 42 years in Tujunga, bought a 40 ft. motor home and full timed it til we settled in Eastern Tennessee. We're a year into building our new home and don't believe we'll be in it for another 4 months. Still living out of our MH. Ya know, 4 years in less than 400 sq. ft. does get old, and sharing it with my Brittany and Marcia's Pit Bull. Nevertheless we have 13 acres of wooded bliss, 4 seasons (snow on the ground now), geese flying overhead, deer and turkeys in the back and my neighbor shooting his black powder rifle when ever. We're still in great shape, health wise, but will be working on the house, and may not be able to attend the Reunion. |

After graduation, Marylyn Wickliffe and I went to Pasadena City College. She met her future husband and I decided to become a teacher. I attended California State University, Los Angeles for my bachelor’s degree in Business and teaching credential. At 21 I married, we were married 23 years. He died in a small plane crash. I have two wonderful sons: Matthew, 41, who is a Psychologist in Los Angeles and Mitchell, 38, who is a Financial Advisor in Hermosa Beach. I have three adorable grandchildren: Roman, 4 ½ and 3 year old twins—Ryan and Nicole. My family is the most important thing in my life! I met Gene McCreadie when I took a teaching position at Temple City High School; he was an unexpected fringe benefit! Our love of tennis brought us together. We have been married 17 years and live in Arcadia. My first teaching job was at Wilson High (one of our rivals), I also taught at San Gabriel High. I spent the last 20 of my 26 years of teaching at Temple City High School where I taught Business and Economics. Teaching was an amazing career for me; I obtained my master’s degree as an adult. My sons and I graduated the same week; Mitchell with a Bachelors from UCLA, Matt with a Masters from University of LaVerne and my Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Delaware. Highlights of my career include being a member of the Writing Committee for National Standards in Economics, being selected by the U.S. State Department to teach economics in Russia, receiving the Disney Teaching Award, California Economics Teacher of the Year and National Education Association Award presented by President Bill Clinton. Gene and I took students to Washington, DC for 15 years; we also organized trips to Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia and Egypt for students and parents. Luckily our reunion takes place a few days after we return from Kenya and Tanzania. I’m so excited to see everyone! |

After Franklin, I went to Cal State L.A. and U.C. Riverside (where my fiance was attending grad school). I finally finished my degree (B.A. Psychology, with honors) at Georgia State University when I was 36. By that time I was divorced, had three young children, and worked part time. I was hired by IBM in Atlanta, and three years later transferred to L.A. and bought a house in Anaheim. My two daughters, Diane and Donna, are U.C.L.A. alumnae and my son, Doug, finished at Cal State Fullerton. After remarrying and leaving IBM in 1991, I went to grad school at Cal State Fullerton for an M.S. in Counseling (MFCC). I worked in that field for several agencies and in private practice until my second divorce, when my English and IT skills allowed me to fall into technical writing. I have four wonderful grandchildren (twin boys 14, two girls 7 and 4) whom I adore and get to see often due to my move back to Atlanta in 2001. Long story about how we all gradually ended up back here. I miss California a lot but visit nearly every year for a week. I look forward to being there again, this time for two weeks. My extra time is spent involved with several social justice, political, and civic organizations (recently hosted a meet 'n greet for a candidate for Georgia Secretary of State), love to grow flowers, plant a summer vegetable garden, love watching the birds and butterflies in my yard, and stay very busy at this computer reading news of the nation and world. Anyone else a C-SPAN junkie? See y'all soon! |

Have been retired for five years and have avoided the labor market thus far. My wife is also retired and we have been enjoying this alternate life style in which work related stress is absent. Having Type I personalities seems to keep us busy with many activities, especially with our youngest son. Our three adult children are all on their own. When our reunion event takes place: our eldest daughter's children will include a five year old girl and a three year old son and our younger daughter's son will be two years old and his sister will be almost five months old. We have a sixteen year old son who is disabled (Down Syndrome and Autism). He is a wonderful child from whom much we have learned. His older brother is single and is a bit of a workaholic. I have so much enjoyed the friendships that came my way at Franklin, so I look forward to the opportunites that the future holds in continuing these experiences. I am enjoying participating with the other reunion committee members in forging a reunion program we hope will be a memorable event for us all. |

In brief: I went to Oxy, then the University of London, then U. of Michigan, from which I got my PhD in 1976, in Southeast Asian history. Along the way - 40 years ago - I married Roberta. Taught at Michigan, Australian National University, and the University of Hong Kong. After 22 years overseas I turned 60 and had to retire, so we bought a house in North Carolina (warm, affordable, good academics and culture) and here we are. I've done some part-time teaching and editing, but mostly I'm just retired. We sing in Duke Chapel Choir and enjoy our dream house and this community. What with all my gadding about the world, this will be the first reunion I've ever attended. Wow. |
