My full name is Charles Leonard Pitts Jr. I was known in school as Leonard, as my friends and family called me by my middle name. I went to college 5 years after leaving Franklin. After that, 2 yrs. in the army. I worked through college and after in tool & die, injection molding industry for 26 yrs. After that, 21 years in product design. I was married in 1971 to Larissa Pitts. We moved to Valencia CA. in that year and stayed for 24 yrs. raising 3 children. We then moved to Moorpark to be closer to my job. The children are all living in the San Francisco area now, and I have 5 grandchildren from them. The 1970's were a great time for us. We started a new family in a new house in a new neighborhood. My wife's parents lived nearby. I was "retireded" in July 2007 when the company I worked for shut down operations in my area and moved the jobs to China. I was so close to 65 that I applied for Social Security. I looked for a job for a while, but I kind of liked retirement. Also my wife was growing ill and required more and more attention. So I am still retired. |

After Graduation from Franklin, I attended Glendale City College and worked for the City of LA. In 1962 I was a runner-up in the Miss Highland Park and Miss City of Los Angeles contests. My celebrity continued with appearances on Let’s Make a Deal, Password, You Don’t Say, and other game shows. After completing studies at Glendale CC, I married Bill Poehler, and a few years later relocated to Goleta, in Santa Barbara County, which was to be home for over 30 years. Our Daughter, Heather Keturah was born in January 1968 and our son Christopher Gray in April 1971. Heather is married and lives in Portland Oregon with Husband, Michael Miller and their 7 year old son, Conrad. Christopher and his wife Leigh, and their new 10 month old daughter Astrid reside in San Francisco. While living in Santa Barbara County, I received my BA in sociology and later received my Teaching Credentials from UCSB’s Graduate School of Education. I later taught Social Studies and English, and for the next 8 years I served as Academic Advisor at UCSB. During this time Bill & I divorced , after 28 years of marriage. I retired from UCSB in 1998. I moved out of state in 2002 and lived in Bend Oregon, and Henderson Nevada before returning to Southern California, and eventually San Francisco, where I currently live with Christopher, Leigh and Astrid. I enjoy being a “nanny” and a Grandmother. My life since 1960 hasn’t been all school and work. I surfed at Dana Point before the marina was built; learned to drive a Greyhound Bus; learned to hang glide – flew the La Cumbre Peak in Santa Barbara and the San Bernardo mountains near Crestline, . . awesome! (I did dislocate my elbow in a “bad landing”). I fought the 1990 Painted Cave Fire & saved our home plus various neighbor’s homes; My travels included a three week stay in Italy with my 7th grade friend Janice Lind; a family reunion in England in 2000 where I met my Dad’s relatives. I will miss having my dear friend Kathleen Mulligan at the reunion as she is unable to attend. We met in the 1st grade at Garvanza School, and remained friends for all these years. She now lives in Santa Fe NM and I miss her all the time. Speaking of dear friends, I try and keep in contact with Eva Gastelum and Tom Hanson, who always fill me in on other FHS graduates. Thanks, you two – I love ya! I want to thank all the wonderful teachers I had through-out my education at Garvanza, Luther Burbank , and of course, Franklin. A special “thank you” to Mrs. Corson who taught all the choirs and music at Luther Burbank (remember the musicals we’d put on; or the fabulous Christmas program?) Because of her I can sing many songs from musicals, read music, and love singing in the shower, choir, car, to my grandchildren, or anytime, if asked. I know she probably is no longer with us, but I had to say “thank you” to her anyway. I look forward to seeing all my fellow Etruscans I haven’t seen since the last reunion I went to in 1995. It will be good to see who’s there and I’ll miss the ones who are not. We’ll have a good time enjoy each other’s company. How about a 2015 reunion ? |

After graduating from Franklin I lived and worked in the area until I moved to La Crescenta. In 1987 I moved to North San Diego County and recently retired from Cal State San Marcos where I worked for several years. I also received my BA from CSUSM, a goal that I am proud to have achieved. I have two wonderful children and two grandchildren, ages 14 & 12. I am enjoying retirement, playing golf and generally just having fun. |

I have raised two kids and one husband. I am spending as much time as I can with my four grandsons. Larry and I love to travel. We are hooked on cruising. We have cruised the Mediterranean, Alaska, New England, etc. And now that we are retired, we plan on taking at least one cruise per year. |

Well, nothing really exciting in my life. Retired 5 years ago, have a daughter who gave me 3 wonderful grandchildren, Ashly 13, and Jacob and Mathew 8. Ashly is a cheer leader for Pop Warner and the boys are in Little League so that is where I spend most of my time. Am on the Board of Directors for our Condo Association and that takes up more time than I'd like. I have a good life and am grateful for that. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the school Tour and dinner at Ernie Jrs. Hope all of you are having good life. |

The most important thing I've done since high school is to become a born-again Christian by receiving Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. My husband Walt and I are active in the children's Sunday School, Community Outreach, and Puppet ministries at our church. We also host a weekly Bible Study in our home. Walt and I have been married for 43 years and he is the love of my life. We have 3 awesome children and 7 wonderful grandchildren aged 2 through 30. They all live fairly near to us, so we are able to spend a lot of time with them. We have been truly blessed. Walt and I share a number of hobbies, like hiking, camping, exploring, and reading, but our passion is traveling. Walt retired from the military so we can get great accommodations at reasonable prices all over the U.S. In 2005 we went on a mission trip to a church hospital in Zimbabwe, Africa. We've also traveled to England, Australia, China, Belize, Costa Rica, and made multiple trips to Caribbean destinations. Hawaii is one of our favorite places to go. Our most recent adventure was visiting our granddaughter Casey who is a Peace Corps volunteer in a remote village in Suriname, South America. Walt's really into photography, so we have lots of pictures to share. Walt's other big love is his 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. He has done a fantastic job of customizing it himself. We belong to Christian Rods and Customs, a car club of believers from various Christian churches. There are chapters all over the L.A. area and in several states. Our club travels all over California for car shows and sometimes we do a church service if the car show falls on a Sunday. Last year we went to Flagstaff, Arizona for a club reunion. I go to line-dancing classes three times a week and really enjoy it. I also like to walk at the Nature Center trails near my home. I guess I'm trying to fight back at the aging process, but at least I'm having fun doing it! Over the years I have taken a variety of classes at the Recreation Department or at colleges. I have learned to make jewelry, sew, do needle-point, "speak" in sign-language, do the hula and to belly-dance. I am currently learning to play the guitar. I love to spend time singing praise songs and playing my guitar. I hope to see you at the reunion! |

After Graduation I went to work for Security First Narional Bank in Highland Park. I met Bob Senenfelder in 1961. We married in 1962. Then we moved to Redondo Beach where Bob worked for the same company for 47 years. We just celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary in June. We have 2 children, 7 grand children and 3 great grand children. I had a day care in our home for 30 years, so I could be a stay at home mom. Our Son lives in the Hudson Valley in New York with his wife Denise and their youngest son Rob, his oldest daughter Monica now lives in Arizona with our 3 great grand children. Lisa lives in Texas. Our daughter Jennifer lives in Hampden Mass with her husband Derek and their 4 children.. 9 year old twins Leanne, Melissa, son Ryan 7 and Amber 6. They keep us very busy traveling back and forth. We retired in 2008 and moved to Murrieta CA. We like to bowl and love to cruise, and travel the world. We are going on a 21 day cruise the end of October to Spain and Italy then cruising back across the Atlantic to Fort Laudrerdale FL. We are looking forward to going to the 50th reunion. |

Fortunate to keep two fellow graduates as life-long friends, Ricardo Munoz and Leonard Pitts, who always remind me who I am. Fortunate to have met a cute young lady, Pary, who took a chance on me and knew how to save some money, get a home, and raise two good kids - coming up on our 40th anniversary soon. Fortunate to have four grandchildren, who always remind me of the joys of life, each with their own unique way of approaching it. Fortunate now to have the time and wisdom to appreciate it all. |

My husband and I, between the two of us, have 6 children. I have a son and a daughter and Lloyd has 3 girls and 1 son. They are or have all been married. Our youngest daughterand youngest son are now single, but the rest are married. Deanna, the youngest, has 1 daughter who is 17. Jeremy, the next one in line is married and has two children, 1 girl - 13 and 1 boy - 10. Next in line is Yvonne - she is married with two daughters - 17 & 18. Darla, has 1 son - 21 and 1 daughter - 14. Wes, has 4 children - 3 boys - 18, 23 & 25 and 1 girl - 21. Phillip, their oldest is married with a son, so we are great-grandparents. Cheri, our oldest is married, but they don't have children. She does have 2 step-children and 3 step-grandbabies. We live on a farm that has been in my husband's family since 1873 and his grandparents built our home sometime between 1895 & 1900. We lease out the farm land to neighbors but we do have some chickens and 3 horses. The one horse was just born in June, 2009 on our 30th anniversary. A little filly we named Snickers. We also have 1 dog - a MinPin and 1 cat & several farm cats. I work part-time for Liberty Tax Service. During tax season I do taxes and during the off season I keep the office open 1 day a week and teach tax prep classes for new tax preparers. I'm also the webmaster for the Father Kapaun website. He is a priest that was born here in our community of Pilsen, KS and died as a POW in 1951 during the Korean War. He is up for the Medal of Honor and also the Catholic Church is considering him for sainthood and if cannonized he will be only the 3rd American born person to be declared a saint in 2000 plus years. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50th reunion. |
